PURSUE — short for Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters — is the interagency program that operationally produced the war.gov/ufo portal launched on May 8, 2026.

The program was directed by President Donald Trump in a February 19, 2026 Truth Social post and convened within a week as a multi-agency working group spanning the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Department of Energy (DOE), the Department of War's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), NASA, the FBI, and additional intelligence components.

PURSUE is best understood as a release process, not an investigative one. It does not generate new findings; it surfaces existing federal records, runs them through a multi-agency declassification review, and publishes the results in batched tranches. The Department of War has committed to "tranches every few weeks" — Release 01 (162 files) appeared on May 8, 2026; Release 02 is expected within weeks.

What PURSUE does not do: produce sensor data, interview witnesses, or render judgments about extraterrestrial origin. The Department of War's accompanying statement explicitly says the released materials show no evidence of contact with non-human intelligence.
